How to 10X Your Instagram Followers & Create Amazing Brand Experiences

Dos Toros, a fast casual Mexican joint with locations in New York and Chicago, was trying to figure out a way to boost their presence on Instagram.

So they decided to make a meme account – that’s right…a meme account. If there’s anything that burrito eating GenZers and Millennials love it’s a great meme. The meme account, @PintoTheBurrito has over 120K followers with high engagement.

By cross promoting the company account and the meme account, the @DosToros account was able to 10X their amount of followers. That’s called “outside the box” thinking – way to go Dos Toros!

Not every brand can create a funny meme account that parades around a burrito politician – but there are some reasons why a brand should have multiple Instagram accounts…

Dos Toros Rojo

Like Dos Toros, Red Bull took having multiple Instagram accounts to a new level – they pretty much are the Kings of Instagram marketing.

Red Bull has an Instagram account for almost everything they have a hand in – product, films, music, radio, TV, photography, Winter, skating, racing, biking, break-dancing, house of art…you name it.

They also have accounts for locations like France, South Africa, Australia, UAE and so on…

A 10X Multiple?

I know you’re not Red Bull. And maintaining one successful (or unsuccessful) Instagram account is hard enough but there are some compelling arguments to why your brand should have more than one…

Product is an easy sell. If you sell men’s and women’s products think about creating accounts specifically for men and women.

Now let’s say you’re a dominant DTC brand who has massive sales numbers specifically in New York City. A NYC centered Instagram account with only NYC related content would resonate better with that local customer base. Take a look at your customer list by location and determine which city account you should create.

Persona is another one. If you have different customer personas that respond and engage with different messaging then an Instagram account per persona makes a lot of sense. The truth is that the content you put out on a single Instagram account won’t effectively communicate to every persona you’re trying to cover.

Multiple Instagram accounts (and marketing in general) is about specificity and resonating with your target customers to the nth degree…
