How Chatbots Can Help Your Ecommerce Business This Holiday Season

A great customer experience is the number one expectation customers have going into this year’s holiday season. Whether they’re shopping in stores or online, the holidays can give customers and employees anxiety attacks over purchasing, returns, discounts etc.

Lucky for us, some really fantastic people created something called a “chatbot” that can service customers online exactly when they need it – automatically.

Chatbots are ready 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They offer customers near instant answers to their questions.

And the best part about it is customers don’t have to start digging around confusing FAQ pages or calling a company to talk to a service rep – and we all know calling someone is the last thing anyone wants to do…

Here are some tips on how to maximize the effectiveness of your chatbot:

  • Map out a natural conversation flow and make sure the conversation leads somewhere rather than talking in circles.
  • Add “Yes” and “No” buttons so that customers can quickly respond to questions.
  • Hint at what the user needs. For example, a chatbot question could be, “What sort of gift are you looking for? We have great gifts for mom, dad, boyfriends, girlfriends and even your boss.”
  • You don’t want your chatbot to sound like a bot – add variety to the way it responds.

So if you’re worried about servicing customers during Black Friday, Cyber Monday and the weeks leading up to the Holidays, a chatbot might just keep the Grinch from stealing your Christmas.
